[Like many others, the recent experiment had caused Elliot Nightray some grief. Unlike everyone else, though, Elliot wasn't worried about his "family" situation now that things were over with. Something else has been worrying him instead. Namely...]

Everyone affected by that experiment had dreams last week, right? Did anyone dream of things that didn't happen? Or things that couldn't have happened?

[Unfortunately, there isn't much to do since it's raining, so housemates can find Elliot sitting near the living room window, reading. It doesn't look like he's enjoying it, though. Something's really bothering him about those dreams.]

I suppose I am. How do I put this...

You've been very tense for the past few days.

[He narrows his eyes. It isn't surprising that Leo would have noticed something was on his mind.]

Have I?

[The smile doesn't fade, doesn't change- it's just there. A wry smile.]

You're not ignorant, Elliot.

[Really, he'd rather have a little more to go on before he said anything, but... It couldn't hurt to tell Leo what was on his mind.]

I've been thinking about something. About those dreams we had.

[Well then. Leo couldn't even say that he hadn't seen this coming.

He leans against the wall beside the window sill seat, carefully picking his next words.]

The ones we spoke about?

Yes. [He nods.] Both of our dreams.

Mmm. What about them?

If we dreamt about ourselves, our real selves... What about your dream? Or mine? Those things... They never happened. I don't remember them happening.

You don't actually think that you killed your... [And here he trails off, frowning. He clasps his hands together, carefully keeping his eyes trained downwards.] You wouldn't do such a thing.

Of course not! I... I would never do something like that. [He loved his brothers. He wouldn't dream of hurting his own brothers like that.] But if I didn't, why did I have that dream? Everything else holds true.

I don't know. [You shouldn't remember. You never did remember that you almost died.] I don't understand it either.

[He's quiet for a moment. There was still that other dream...]

I had the same dream you had, too. It was unclear, but... I'm sure it was the same dream.

[....]

What did you see in your dream?

I... don't know. [It was strange—both of these dreams were unclear. He hadn't seen them as often as the others, but some things were very clear, like his brothers' faces, or...] I saw you there, and I saw... something. I charged forward and then everything started to fade.

[He doesn't know if he should be feeling nervous or gladn that Elliot had been spared that part of his memories; perhaps, despite how improbable it seemed, Humpty-Dumpty wasn't as powerless here as he'd initially thought. But that in itself was a terrifying thought. What if the seal...?

No. Time didn't move, it shouldn't matter.]

...that's a strange dream. But...it is familiar, isn't it?

[He shouldn't be encouraging this, he shouldn't...] Like that time you slipped.

[He considers Leo's words. They make sense—it was just like that time. But the more he thinks about it...]

No. That can't be right.

[He had slipped and fell and hit his head. That didn't happen in this dream. No, he had done more than he had that time.]

Why not?

That time, when I fell... the kids were all right. I didn't fall in my dream. And the kids, they weren't...

[This feels familiar, for some reason.]

Hmm? No. No, you're not wrong. You fell after we found Helen. Don't you remember?

[He never lies, Elliot should never be lied to. On the side furthest from Elliot, Leo's fist clenches.]

That didn't happen in my dream.

[And if it weren't for the experiment, he wouldn't have dreamt about it. When his nightmares were always the same, he could be sure of this.]

What are you saying, Elliot? [Are you outing him as a liar?]

I'm saying that something isn't right.

[It wasn't like he believed some stupid dreams over his servant, but there had to be a reason for this. Just like with his nightmares, there had to be a reason.]

It does seem that way, doesn't it? Like we're having nightmares of things that could happen...
