[Like many others, the recent experiment had caused Elliot Nightray some grief. Unlike everyone else, though, Elliot wasn't worried about his "family" situation now that things were over with. Something else has been worrying him instead. Namely...]

Everyone affected by that experiment had dreams last week, right? Did anyone dream of things that didn't happen? Or things that couldn't have happened?

[Unfortunately, there isn't much to do since it's raining, so housemates can find Elliot sitting near the living room window, reading. It doesn't look like he's enjoying it, though. Something's really bothering him about those dreams.]

[Elliot's quiet for a moment longer before he shakes his head a bit.]

I... I can't accept that reasoning.

[Something just doesn't feel right about it.]

[There is nothing but the sound of rain outside, quiet, before he asks the same question that Elliot had had.]

Then why do you think we had those dreams?

I don't know, but... They have to mean something. They have to. And I'm going to find out what.

[There is no small amount of conviction in his words. He wanted to understand.]

...yeah.

And you won't accept anything less. Am I right?

Yeah... You're right.

[And there's another moment of silence as he just... thinks. Was there nothing else? Ah—]

Did anything else happen in your dream?

[Hmm...ah!] I did dream once of when you gave me my glasses. Does that count?

[D-did he really have to have that kind of dream...?]

No, I... I mean in the one you told me about.

I can't remember. I think I woke up after you were...

[His voice trails off and he shrugs. He doesn't feel like saying it. It's not like he couldn't fill in the blanks anyway.]

You think?

It's been almost a week. I don't usually remember my dreams.

[Well, that wasn't unreasonable. Elliot had to force himself to remember just what he'd dreamed of, especially when the dreams were events that actually occurred.]

And after I blacked out... there was nothing else?

[He just had to make sure.]

Nothing of interest. It was rather boring having to look after you, actually.

You're my servant. Don't complain!

[...it's an automatic reaction, okay.]

[And doesn't he know that.]

Oh, am I not allowed to be bored now?

It's your job, and you'll do it no matter how boring it is.

It's not a very encouraging situation then, is it? How troublesome.

[Most irritating servant ever. But that isn't what he's concerned about. He takes another drink of his tea before continuing, much less loud than a few moments ago.]

If there was something else... You'd tell me, right?

Mmm. [It's a murmur, though not an outright yes or no. Perhaps it's assent.] I would never lie to you, Elliot.

[If there was one thing Leo had always been with him, it was honest. Brutally honest. This had always been true, and he had no reason to doubt him.]

...I know.

[But just because he was always honest... Couldn't it be that there was something he just wasn't saying?]

[He's safe for the time being...or at least, he hopes he is. His glance darts across the room for a moment and he chooses to sit at the end of the window seat, right next to Elliot's own foot.]

We've been here for two months and we don't still understand anything at all. It's annoying.

We can't understand anything as long as we're stuck here.

[Not about this place, not about the Headhunter, not even about himself.]

Do you think we'd understand it more if we were back home?

It might still take a long time, but... I'm sure of it.
