Is there a reason the village was empty the other day? [Everyone keeps talking about a "missing day", but that's not an answer. ...not that he expects a good one.] And something else— Where do you go when you want to get away from someone?

[He doesn't bother filtering that last part. Why bother? If he wants to ragequit his house, then dammit, he will.

Kind of like today. In order to get away from the general annoyance that is his house, he is reading quietly in the tea shop. Surely no one would expect to find him there, right?!]

Definitely not a mass kidnapping. The journals were too quiet for that and they were bound to pick up at least one. A draft would have had an announcement, so not that either.

I didn't think it was a draft. [He sure hadn't thought about the kidnapping thing, though. Huh.] What do you think it was?

I think it is related to all these people acting strangely, but have not been able to for sure confirm any missing person is now acting strange. [Because everyone he's living with is about as sane as they normally are.]

Me, either. I don't know anyone who disappeared. [None of his housemates had left, and Elliot wasn't the best at being sociable.] But no one remembers what happened.

[Leonhardt had just figured the missing people just didn't go out and didn't bother to go check up on anyone, though a bit odd for such a nice day.]

Interestingly, some of the comments over the journals seem to bear similarity to comments on the journals for another experiment a year ago. Then there is the attack on the Battle Dome. It is hard to say if all of this is related yet.

It's really annoying. [He hated not understanding what was going on, even if it didn't have a lot to do with him.] What happened a year ago?

A memory alteration experiment. It is actually mentioned in the Guide and looking back one can see the reactions at the beginning are similar to now with people thinking they were displaced from their homes. No mentions of anyone going missing, so it isn't exactly the same, but the similarity is not likely to be coincidence.

Do you mean the one where everyone thought that they had always lived here?

That was indeed the one. And the fact that so many are missing a day suggests some sort of alteration of memories happened.

Great. It's impossible to talk to people like that.

Then that would likely be where finding a quiet place would come in. I rather like setting up a relaxing simulation at the Battle Dome. People don't tend to intrude, the only drawback is the hour limit on simulations, but you can always start it over again.

Is everything okay there now?

It is. There are still some signs of an attack, but everything is functioning correctly for those wishing to train or relax.

I see. [He hadn't spent much time around the battle dome, so maybe...] Thanks. I'll give that a try.
